An Hyang

An Hyang (安珦, 1243–1306) was a scholar and official of late Goryeo, born in Yeongju in present-day North Gyeongsang Province. He personally transcribed Zhu Xi's collected works, the Zhuzi daquan, and brought them back to Goryeo, thereby introducing and spreading Neo-Confucianism for the first time. The learning he transmitted deeply shaped the thought and education of later Goryeo and Joseon, and for his devotion to teaching later students he is regarded as the founding figure of Korean Confucianism.
