Bak Paengnyeon

朴彭年Scholar

1417~1456

Park Paeng-nyeon (1417–1456) was a civil official and scholar of the early Joseon period who served as a scholar of the Jiphyeonjeon (Hall of Worthies). When King Sejo took the throne after deposing his young nephew King Danjong, Park became a central figure in a plot to restore Danjong; the plot was uncovered and he was executed. Having held offices such as Vice Minister of Punishments, he is remembered as one of the Six Martyred Ministers (Sayuksin) who kept their loyalty to the end.
