Park Su-geun

Park Soo-keun (1914-1965) was a South Korean painter who devoted his canvases to the everyday lives of ordinary people. He favored humble subjects such as women at the washing place, people in the marketplace, and children in the alleys, and became known for a distinctive style built on rough, dense textures reminiscent of granite. Through this work he came to be cherished as a "painter of the people" who portrayed common life with warmth.
