Bang Jeonghwan (Sopa)

Bang Jeong-hwan (1899-1931), widely known by his pen name Sopa, was a children's rights activist during the Japanese colonial period in Korea. He spread the idea that children should be respected as individuals in their own right, founding Children's Day and publishing the magazine Eorini ("Children") as he led movements for children's culture and rights. In an adult-centered society, his emphasis on the dignity and rights of children made him a pioneer of the Korean children's movement.
