King Beopheung

Beopheung was the 23rd monarch of Silla (r. 514–540), who built on the foundations laid by his father, King Jijeung. In 527 he officially recognized Buddhism, promulgated legal codes, and annexed Geumgwan Gaya, greatly reorganizing Silla's territory and system of governance. These reforms laid the groundwork for Silla's growth into a centralized ancient state.
