Yi Binghoegak
憑虛閣 李氏Scholar1759~1824
Yi Bingheogak (1759–1824) was a female Silhak (practical learning) scholar of late Joseon, born into the Jeonju Yi clan; she was the wife of the scholar Seo Yu-bon and sister-in-law of the scholar Seo Yu-gu. She compiled the household encyclopedia "Gyuhap Chongseo," bringing together everyday knowledge on food, clothing, and home management from a woman's perspective. In an age when scholarship was largely reserved for men, she stands out for leaving a distinct achievement in practical learning as a woman.
