Cheon Su-gyeong

Cheon Su-gyeong (千壽慶, ?–1818) was a scholar and wihang poet of the late Joseon period; his courtesy name was Gunseon and his pen name Huiheon, which he later changed to Songseogwon. He led the Okgye Poetry Society (also known as the Songseogwon Poetry Society), a gathering of poets from the jungin (middle) class at Okgye on the slopes of Inwangsan. By showing that poets outside the yangban aristocracy could attain high literary accomplishment, he became a central figure of wihang literature and a representative voice of the jungin and commoner literary movement in late Joseon.
