Choe Museon

Choe Museon (1325-1395) was a weapons engineer and general of the late Goryeo period. He led the domestic development of gunpowder and cannons and the founding of the Hwatong Dogam, the government office in charge of them, giving Goryeo its own capacity to manufacture gunpowder weapons. The firearms he developed played a key role in defeating Japanese raiders at the Battle of Jinpo.
