Geochilbu

Geochilbu was a scholar and chief minister of Silla during the reign of King Jinheung, having originally been a Buddhist monk. He is best known for compiling Guksa (the "National History"), Silla's history book, by royal command in 545 — a landmark project through which the kingdom set down its own history at the state level. Active in scholarship as well as in politics and military affairs, he rose to the office of chief minister.
