Prince Geumseong
錦城大君Royal Relative1426~1457
Grand Prince Geumseong (Yi Yu) was a son of King Sejong and Queen Soheon, one of the king's several sons. After his young nephew, King Danjong, was deposed by his uncle Grand Prince Suyang (King Sejo), he joined with a local official at his place of exile in Suheung to plot Danjong's restoration to the throne. The scheme was uncovered and he was put to death, and his attempt remains a symbol of the struggle over royal succession and the movement to restore Danjong in the early Joseon period.
