Gwon Giok

Kwon Ki-ok (1901-1988) was Korea's first female aviator and an independence activist. After graduating from the aviation program of the Yunnan Army Military Academy in China in 1925, she carried on the anti-Japanese struggle through the Korean Provisional Government and the Chinese Air Force. She opened the path to aviation for women at a time when their public activity was heavily restricted, and she later became Korea's first female publisher.
