King Gyeongjong
景宗King1688~1724
Gyeongjong (1688–1724) was the 20th king of Joseon, the eldest son of King Sukjong and his consort Lady Jang (Jang Hui-bin). He came to the throne in 1720 but was in frail health and died after a reign of only four years. During his brief rule the Noron and Soron factions clashed bitterly over the regency of his younger half-brother, the heir apparent and future King Yeongjo, giving rise to the Sinim Purge.
