Heo Jun

Heo Jun (1539–1615) was a royal physician and medical scholar of mid-Joseon Korea. On King Seonjo's orders, he devoted himself after the Japanese invasions to restoring and compiling earlier medical texts, work that culminated in the Donguibogam, a comprehensive synthesis of Korean medicine. The book is today inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. He also produced medical works written in Korean script, such as the Eonhae Duchang Jibyo, making medical knowledge more accessible to ordinary people.
