Hwang Hui

Hwang Hui (1363–1452) was a civil official and statesman active in the transition from the late Goryeo to the early Joseon dynasty. Trusted deeply by King Sejong for his wisdom and clear-headed judgment, he held the office of Chief State Councillor (Yeonguijeong) for eighteen years, the longest tenure of anyone in that post. Today he is remembered as a leading minister of Sejong's era and as a symbol of the incorruptible official (cheongbaek-ri).
