King Hyeonjong of Goryeo
顯宗King992~1031
Hyeonjong (顯宗, 992–1031) was the eighth king of the Goryeo dynasty. Early in his reign he faced the national crisis of a large-scale Khitan invasion, which he repelled to preserve the kingdom, and he initiated the carving of the first Tripitaka Koreana as a prayer to overcome foreign aggression. He also reorganized the local administrative system, giving Goryeo's government a more stable footing.
