Yi Gae
李塏Scholar1417~1456
Yi Gae (1417–1456) was a scholar and official of the early Joseon period, and a great-grandson of Yi Saek (Mogeun), the renowned scholar of the late Goryeo era. As a member of the Hall of Worthies (Jiphyeonjeon), he was known for his fine poetry and prose and devoted himself to scholarly work. He is remembered as one of the "Six Martyred Ministers," executed for attempting to restore the deposed King Danjong to the throne, and revered for his loyalty.
