Yi Gyubo

Yi Gyu-bo was one of the leading civil officials and poets of the Goryeo dynasty. His collected writings, the Dongguk Isang gukjip, survive as an important legacy of Goryeo literature in Classical Chinese, and his long narrative poem the Dongmyeongwangpyeon, which recounts the story of Dongmyeong (Jumong), the founder of Goguryeo, gave literary voice to a sense of pride in his people's history. Known also by his pen name Baegun geosa, he is regarded as an indispensable figure in the history of Goryeo literature.
