Yi Jehyeon (Ikjae)

Yi Je-hyeon, known by the pen name Ikjae, was a leading scholar-official and Neo-Confucian thinker of the late Goryeo period. Traveling between Goryeo and the Yuan dynasty, he helped introduce and take root the newly transmitted Neo-Confucianism, and left behind writings such as the Yeogong paeseol, a collection of poetry and prose. In his later years he served as a state councillor, supporting King Gongmin's reform politics, and is remembered for the deep mark he left on the scholarship and governance of late Goryeo.
