Queen Insu (Sohye Queen)

Queen Insu of the Han clan (posthumously Queen Sohye, 1437–1504) was the wife of Crown Prince Uigyeong (posthumously honored as King Deokjong), a son of King Sejo, and the mother of King Seongjong. When her son ascended the throne, she wielded considerable influence at court as queen dowager. She authored the Naehun (Instructions for Women), a didactic text on the virtues and education expected of women, helping to shape Confucian norms for women in early Joseon.
