Yi Saek (Mogeun)

Yi Saek (1328-1396), whose pen name was Mogeun, was a leading scholar and official of the late Goryeo period. As a central figure of the neo-Confucian literati (Sinjin Sadaebu), he served as head of the Seonggyungwan academy and taught such disciples as Jeong Mong-ju and Jeong Do-jeon. Diligent in educating younger students and prolific as a writer, he stands as one of the key figures at the heart of late Goryeo scholarship and politics.
