Yi Sanghwa

Lee Sang-hwa (1901-1943) was a Korean poet active during the Japanese colonial period. In his best-known work, "Does Spring Come Even to Stolen Fields?", he gave voice to the grief of a lost homeland and a spirit of resistance, making him one of the era's representative poets of resistance. Beyond his poetry, he worked as a literary critic and translator and took part in the independence movement.
