Yi Uibang
李義方Military Official?~1174
Yi Ui-bang (1121-1175) was a military official of Goryeo who, together with Jeong Jung-bu and Yi Go, led the military coup of 1170 that overturned the civil aristocracy's hold on power. After the coup he was appointed a junior commander in the royal guard and soon rose to grand general, taking control of the early military regime. While suppressing the rebellion of Jo Wi-chong, however, he was killed by Jeong Gyun, the son of Jeong Jung-bu, a fate that came to symbolize the internal power struggles among the military rulers.
