Jeong Jeonghwa

Jeong Jeong-hwa (1900-1991) was a Korean independence activist during the Japanese colonial period; her birth name was Jeong Myo-hui and her pen name was Sudang. Entrusted with running the domestic affairs of the Korean Provisional Government, she sustained the independence movement through long years of exile, earning her the nickname "Korea's Joan of Arc." She left behind the memoir Jangganilgi, which records her own work and the journey of the Provisional Government and is valued as an important testimony to the history of the independence struggle.
