Jeong Jungbu

Jeong Jung-bu (1106-1179) was a military official of mid-Goryeo who led the military coup of 1170. The coup toppled the civil-official-centered order and brought the military class to power, opening an era of military rule that lasted about a century. In its aftermath, Jeong emerged as one of the most powerful figures in Goryeo politics.
