Jeong Mongju

Jeong Mong-ju (1337–1392) was a scholar-official, diplomat, and Neo-Confucian thinker of the late Goryeo period who helped spread Neo-Confucian learning. Opposed to the founding of a new dynasty, he sought to defend Goryeo to the end and was assassinated at Seonjukgyo Bridge. Remembered through his poem "Danshimga," which sings of unwavering loyalty, he is honored as the last faithful subject of Goryeo.
