Princess Jeongmyeong

Princess Jeongmyeong was a Joseon princess, the daughter of King Seonjo and Queen Inmok and the elder sister of Grand Prince Yeongchang. During the reign of Gwanghaegun she was stripped of her royal status and confined together with her mother, but she was reinstated as a member of the royal family after the coup that placed King Injo on the throne. She married Hong Ju-won, son of the official Hong Yeong, and through descendants such as Lady Hyegyeong she became closely bound to the political history of the late Joseon period.
