Jeon Hyeongpil (Gansong)

Jeon Hyeong-pil (1906–1962) was a collector of cultural artifacts who spent his private fortune to gather and safeguard Korea's cultural heritage during the Japanese colonial period. He founded Bohwagak, the country's first private museum (today's Kansong Art Museum), and helped keep precious treasures such as the Hunminjeongeum Haerye from being scattered abroad. He also established the Dongseong Academy to support education, and his efforts remain a notable example of preserving Korea's cultural heritage.
