King Jijeung

智證王King

Jijeung was the 22nd king of Silla, reigning from 500 to 514. He fixed the state's name as "Silla" and began using the Chinese-style royal title "king" in place of the older title maripgan. He also banned the practice of human sacrifice at burials and promoted farming by spreading the use of oxen to plow fields, and he sent the general Isabu to conquer the state of Usan (Ulleungdo), expanding Silla's territory.
