Queen Jindeok

Queen Jindeok (r. 647–654) was the 28th monarch of Silla and, after Queen Seondeok, its second reigning queen. Her given name was Seungman, and the Samguk Sagi records her as the last ruler of the "sacred bone" (seonggol) rank. During her reign she greatly strengthened diplomacy with Tang China, sending the emperor a poem she composed herself, the "Ode to Great Peace" (Taepyeongsong), to affirm the bond between the two states. This close relationship with Tang helped lay the groundwork for Silla's later unification of the Three Kingdoms.
