King Jinpyeong

眞平王King

Jinpyeong was the 26th ruler of the kingdom of Silla, taking the throne in 579 and reigning for more than half a century until 632. As the eldest grandson of King Jinheung, he had the monk Wongwang impart the Five Secular Precepts and pursued active diplomacy with China's Sui and Tang dynasties, strengthening Silla's foundations. Having no son, he passed the throne to his daughter, who succeeded him as Queen Seondeok, the first female sovereign of Silla.
