Ji Seokyeong

Ji Seok-yeong (1855–1935) was a physician and Korean-language scholar active from the late Joseon period through the Korean Empire era. He led efforts to introduce and spread vaccination against smallpox in Korea, making a major contribution to the adoption of modern medicine. He also devoted himself to studying the Korean language and the Hangul script, working to systematize and teach the national writing.
