Jo Soang

Cho So-ang (born Cho Yong-eun, 1887–1958) was an independence activist during the Japanese colonial period and a political thinker who served in the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. He formulated the doctrine of the Three Equalities—equality in politics, economy, and education—which became the ideological foundation of the Provisional Government's founding charter. Because it set out the direction for the nation to be built after independence, this thought holds an important place in the history of modern Korean political ideas.
