Gang Wugyu

Kang Woo-gyu (1855–1920) was a practitioner of traditional Korean medicine and an independence activist during the Japanese colonial period. In 1919 he threw a bomb at Saitō Makoto, the newly arriving Governor-General of Korea, at Seoul Station, but the bomb went astray and the attempt failed. Having carried out an armed act of resistance in his sixties, he is remembered as a figure who showed that opposition to colonial rule was not confined to any single generation.
