Kim Jeonghui (Chusa)

Kim Jeong-hui (1786-1856) was a calligrapher and scholar of the late Joseon period, versed in epigraphy and evidential learning as well as poetry and painting. He developed his own distinctive calligraphic style known as Chusache, opening new ground in the art of writing, and made notable contributions to epigraphy, the study of inscriptions on ancient stone monuments. His painting Sehando, created during his exile on Jeju Island, is regarded as a work that embodies his scholarship and artistic vision.
