Kim Manjung

Kim Man-jung (1637–1692), known by his pen name Seopo, was a scholar-official and novelist of the mid-to-late Joseon period. He held high posts such as Grand Academician of the Hongmungwan, and at a time when classical Chinese dominated literature, he wrote fiction in the Korean script, broadening the reach of vernacular literature. His major works, "The Dream of Nine Clouds" (Guunmong) and "The Record of Lady Sa's Journey South" (Sassi namjeonggi), remain landmark Korean-language novels.
