Kim Wonbong
金元鳳Independence Activist1898~1958
Kim Won-bong (1898-1958), who went by the pen name Yaksan, was a leading Korean independence activist during the Japanese colonial period. In 1919 he founded the Heroic Corps (Uiyeoldan) and led its campaign of armed resistance, later organizing the Korean Volunteer Corps and serving as deputy commander of the Korean Liberation Army. A memorial hall honoring him stands in his hometown of Miryang, South Gyeongsang Province.
