Myocheong

Myocheong was a Buddhist monk of the mid-Goryeo period who, together with Jeong Ji-sang and Yun Eon-i, led the Seogyeong faction based in Seogyeong (present-day Pyongyang). He called for moving the capital to Seogyeong and argued that the Goryeo ruler should proclaim himself emperor and adopt an independent era name, while also urging a military campaign against the Jin dynasty. His movement to relocate the capital ultimately turned into a revolt, and to this day historians still debate whether it was a bid for national self-assertion and reform or simply a rebellion.
