Naong

Hyegeun, better known by his pen name Naong (1320-1376), was a leading Seon (Zen) monk of the late Goryeo period. Appointed royal preceptor to King Gongmin, he guided a Buddhist community that had grown weak, and he oversaw a major reconstruction of Hoeamsa, making it a central seat of the Seon school. His teaching left a lasting mark on Buddhism at the end of the Goryeo era.
