Seo Yu-gu

Seo Yu-gu (1764–1845) was a Silhak (Practical Learning) scholar and agricultural administrator of the late Joseon period, raised in a family devoted to practical scholarship through his grandfather Seo Myeong-eung and father Seo Ho-su. He is best known for the Imwon gyeongjeji, a vast encyclopedia in 113 volumes that comprehensively organized knowledge of agriculture and rural daily life. The work stands as a landmark of the practical spirit of late Joseon Silhak.
