Sin Yunbok (Hyewon)

Sin Yun-bok (申潤福, 1758–c.1814), known by the pen name Hyewon, was a painter of the late Joseon period. Skilled in both landscape and genre painting, he is especially remembered for genre scenes that portray the daily lives of women and the affection between men and women with great delicacy. His works also quietly satirized the hypocrisy and double standards of the yangban officials, and together with Kim Hong-do he is regarded as one of the foremost genre painters of the late Joseon era. His representative works include Portrait of a Beauty (Minhwado) and Lovers under the Moon (Wolha-jeongin).
