Son Byeonghui

Son Byeong-hui (1861–1922) was the third leader (supreme patriarch) of Cheondogyo, the religion that grew out of the Donghak movement, and an independence activist of the Korean Empire. He took part as one of the 33 national representatives who declared independence during the March 1st Movement of 1919, serving as their representative figure. Drawing on his influence as a religious leader to organize the nationalist movement, he became a central figure in the resistance against Japanese colonial rule.
