Uisang

Uisang (625–702) was an eminent monk of royal Silla descent who traveled to Tang China to study Huayan (Hwaeom) thought under Zhiyan, the second patriarch of the Chinese Huayan school, and inherited his dharma lineage. After returning home, he founded the Hwaeom school in Silla and established Buseoksa along with the other Ten Hwaeom Temples, spreading Hwaeom teachings widely. His work helped lay the doctrinal foundations of Silla Buddhism around the time of the unification of the Three Kingdoms.
