Yang Man-chun

Yang Manchun was a general of late Goguryeo, known as the commander who defended Ansi Fortress during the first Goguryeo-Tang War in 645. He held out against the massive assault led by Emperor Taizong of Tang and repelled it at Ansi, saving Goguryeo from the crisis. Little of his life is recorded, however, and even his real name is unknown, so he is often simply called "the Lord of Ansi Fortress"; the name "Yang Manchun" was handed down through popular tradition during the Joseon period.
