Yeon Gaesomun

Yeon Gaesomun was a general and statesman of the late Goguryeo period, also known as Gaegeum. Rising to the post of Daemangniji, he seized effective control of state affairs and pursued a hardline policy of resistance against the Tang dynasty. His oversight of the Cheolli Jangseong (Thousand-li Wall) and campaigns such as the defense of Ansi Fortress are counted among his defining acts.
