Yu Eungbu

Yu Eung-bu (?–1456) was a military officer of the early Joseon period and one of the Six Martyred Ministers who died for their attempt to restore the deposed King Danjong. Assigned as a royal sword-bearer (byeorungeom) at a banquet welcoming Ming envoys, he was to strike down King Sejo, but the plot was uncovered beforehand and he was executed before it could be carried out. A soldier who held fast to his loyalty to the end, he is honored alongside Seong Sam-mun, Bak Paeng-nyeon, and the others as a symbol of unwavering fidelity.
