Yu Il-han

Yu Il-han (1895-1971) was a Korean entrepreneur and independence activist active during the Japanese colonial period and in the Republic of Korea. Seeking to improve public health, he founded the pharmaceutical company Yuhan Corporation and ran it on principles of honest business, while in the United States he supported the independence movement through the Korean armed unit known as the Maenghogun (Tiger Brigade). He established Yuhan College to advance education and left instructions to donate his entire fortune to society, becoming remembered as a model of corporate social responsibility.
