Yun Bonggil

Yun Bong-gil (1908–1932) was a Korean independence activist during the Japanese colonial period, born in Yesan, South Chungcheong, who was also active in education and popular enlightenment. As a member of the Korean Patriotic Corps led by Kim Gu, in 1932 he threw a bomb at a Japanese military ceremony in Hongkou Park in Shanghai, dealing a heavy blow to Japanese military leaders and officials. This Hongkou incident reinvigorated a flagging independence movement and helped raise the standing of the Korean Provisional Government.
