The Dawn of Modern Medicine and Education
At Horace Allen's proposal, Gwanghyewon (soon renamed Jejungwon), Korea's first Western hospital, was founded, while Protestant missionaries opened modern schools such as Baejae Hakdang and Ewha Hakdang, marking the start of modern medicine and education.
