Production of Acheulean-type Stone Tools Including Hand Axes

Bifacially worked Acheulean hand axes were excavated at Jeongokri in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, demonstrating that a sophisticated Paleolithic culture existed in East Asia as well. However, the precise date remains debated among scholars; unlike the conventional estimate of around 300,000 years ago, OSL and AMS measurements suggest the site may date to approximately 40,000–120,000 years ago.
