Junggun Village is a mountain settlement nestled in the foothills of Deokdu Mountain in Jirisan, Namwon, surrounded by high mountains like a folding screen — the only natural village in the area that was not abandoned. During the Japanese invasions (Imjin War), this area was used as a military stronghold, and the village's name derives from the fact that the 'middle army' (junggun) was stationed here during the three-part military division.
